Cardio Sleep Review 2

n this issue, we look at the coding procedures and requirements for HSAT. Introducing Sleep Diagnostics to the Cardiology care point, requires some specific adjustments. We continue to share the challenge of the “old way” of referring cardiac patients to the traditional sleep lab as a first line diagnostic, as discussed in conversations with cardiologist Rick Pumill, MD, and Omar Burschtin, MD, Medical Director, Sleep Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

In addition, we share research that investigates the strong correlation between OSA and ischemic stroke, identifying OSA as an indicator for ischemic stroke risk in men.
